Bill Northrop is checking and resetting channel markers in both estuaries. In order to accommodate the ever changing channels, particularly in the lower reaches of the estuaries, he will be changing some channel markers from fixed poles to floating buoys.
Chester Wilmot will be undertaking further work on the Kariega slipway, repairing the east bank towpath on the Bushman’s estuary and together with Bill Northrop will be attending to the Bushman’s jetty.
Dave Curran, who has taken on the Fishing and Bait portfolio has recently had a discussion with Mr Andile Maki, the Chief Marine Conservation Officer at The Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF). They discussed providing assistance with the provision of volunteers who have access to boats and who could, on a regular basis, provide transport for a DAFF field officer up the two estuaries. Various formalities must be completed after which we hope to set up a roster of volunteers.
