Earlier this month an oversight visit by Jane Cowley, MPL and local DA Councillor Phil Kani highlighted a problem with overflow from the sewage plant above the Kariega River. The matter was attended to promptly. To reassure our residents and visitors, the water in the Kariega and Boesmans Estuaries is SAFE and is well within the legal limits for a marine environment. Water testing has been done regularly in recent years, at various points, at low tide, to check on our water quality.
The table below summarises these results.
