The Bushman’s Preservation Trust (BPT) has obtained the Department of Economic Development & Environmental Affairs’ sanction to remove the heaps of sand and rubble left on the west bank of the Bushman’s Estuary after their excavations of March 2015. The method will use hand labour to sort out the rubble which will be carted away in a limited number of trucks whilst the sand remaining will be pushed back onto the banks of the river. The process was set to start on 25th October 2016 but has now been blocked by a legal objection brought by the Public Service Accountability Monitor (PSAM).
