Estuary Care together with the Kariega Project; Ndlambe Municipality Conservation; Rotary Conservation and Sustainable Seas Trust, continues to be represented on the Environmental Steering Group.
Sustainable Seas Trust organised a four day Easter Holiday Club for children from Klipfontein and Ekuphumleni primary schools. In line with the theme ‘Healthy Oceans, Healthy Planet’ for this year’s World Oceans Day to be held in June the focus of the Holiday Club was to instil a sense of responsibility and urgency to protect and keep our oceans clean. The message throughout the four day event was leave only your footprints and handprints on the beach. On the last day of the Holiday Club the children were taken to Kenton’s Blue Flag beach to meet the local lifeguards.
The children were excited to get into the ocean but also to listen to a talk from the lifeguards on the basics of swimming and survival skills in an emergency situation and to be part of a hands-on first aid demonstration.

We look forward to participating in the Kariega River clean-up which will take place later this year.
